The aging is a deleterious, progressive, intrinsic and universal process that with the time happens in every alive being as a result of the interaction of the genetics of the individual and his environment. It might be defined also as all the alterations that take place in an organism with the passage of time and that they lead to functional losses and to the death.

It is difficult to determine the moment in which this one begins, some authors think that it demonstrates from the moment of the maximum vitality about 30 years in the man. Probably, the aging (unlike the growth) is not a genetically programmed phenomenon.

At present the period of life of the human being is quantified by a maximum of 120 years, when the intrinsic phenomena of the growth and of the aging develop in a suitable way. Of not being like that, the chronological duration of the human life diminishes proportionally, still when the biological space is in all the individuals the same one. There is understood as biological space the totality of complete cycles of cellular activities or of organs that an individual realizes since it is born until it comes to his physiological death. When it becomes exhausted the death happens.

The life expectancy on having been born is an index that shows the number of years through that in a statistical way there will live probably an individual of a population who is born in a certain moment; depending this one on the conditions of well-being in the company.  In effect the advances partner sanitary, especially those of the preventive medicine, and also the appearance of the antibiotics together with the big progresses in the nutrition, have achieved that the life expectancy when it was born, that was 50 years at the beginning of century, is in the countries developed 75 years at present.

Types.  

  • Normal aging.

Is named a normal or primary aging and produces a series of biological, physiological and social changes that take place gradually throughout the time.

 

  • Pathological aging.

Also called secondary aging, it refers to the changes that do not form a part of the natural aging, but they are a consequence of diseases, as the Alzheimer for example, bad habits, etc. This type of diseases can be reversible or even they can get ready unlike the natural aging that is inevitable.

 

  • Ideal aging.

East aging is the one that will produce to itself in the best possible both physical and psychological or social conditions what will reduce the presence of diseases.
